It’s a busy time for me. As I put the finishing touches on a shaker-style bedroom for a client in Landkey North Devon Im already prepping the Materials for the next room at the same project .
There is a particular kind of satisfaction that comes with the final week of a project. As the sawdust settles on one room here in North Devon, the timber is already being prepped for the next.
This week has been all about the timeless Shaker style. Whether it’s a coastal home in Croyde or a townhouse in Barnstaple, the clean lines and recessed panels of Shaker joinery never seem to go out of fashion—they just feel right.

Finishing Touches: The Master Bedroom
We are currently wrapping up a full-room transformation. The centerpiece is a set of bespoke fitted wardrobes, designed specifically to hug the walls and maximise every inch of storage. To tie the room together, we’ve installed matching Shaker-style wall panelling, drawer units and custom bedside units.
The panelling adds a layer of depth and character that paint alone just can’t achieve. It turns a standard bedroom into a retreat. We’ve focused on precision—ensuring the "rails and stiles" of the panelling align perfectly with the height of the units for a seamless, "built-in" look.

The Next Chapter: Starting Friday
The tools won't be staying in the van for long. By the end of this week, we’re moving straight into room number two. While it shares the same Shaker DNA, every space in a Devon home presents its own challenges—from uneven cottage walls to specific storage needs.
Building bespoke means we don't have to "make it fit"—we design it to belong.

Why Choose Shaker?
I’m often asked why Shaker remains the go-to for fitted furniture. The answer is simple: versatility. It’s a design that bridges the gap between traditional and modern. In a few years, if the client wants a new look, a simple change of handle or a fresh coat of paint completely transforms the room without needing new cabinetry.
