“I like to find practical solutions that work with the way a home is actually used, while making sure the finished work looks right as well.”

I'm Lawrence, the carpenter and joiner behind LMF Carpentry, providing carpentry, joinery and fitted furniture for homeowners across North Devon.

I've been working in carpentry and joinery for over 25 years. I started my career at 18, working alongside experienced carpenters for a local kitchen and bathroom company near Brighton. It was there that I developed a real interest in kitchen fitting and made-to-measure furniture, as well as the practical side of working in people's homes.

I went on to spend around 15 years with Alexanders in Worthing, working as a carpenter and kitchen fitter on everything from everyday kitchens to high-end German manufacturers. I later worked for Gorringe Homes before becoming self-employed.

Experience that goes beyond the finished product

My background in kitchen fitting and carpentry has given me a good understanding of how to combine practical construction with the finished appearance of a room.

Whether I'm building fitted wardrobes, a media wall, wall panelling, bench seating or custom cabinetry, I take care with the details that make the finished work look right.

I use drawings where they're helpful for planning and pricing, and I'm happy to work through different materials, finishes and layouts with clients before construction begins. I also take particular care when working with older or uneven properties, where walls and floors aren't always as straight or square as they might appear.

A straightforward approach

Most of my work is for homeowners, and I understand that having work carried out in your home can be disruptive. I aim to keep things organised, tidy and straightforward from the initial enquiry through to installation.

I don't believe in pushing people into making a decision. I'd rather understand what you're looking to achieve, discuss the options and provide a clear quote so you can decide whether I'm the right person for the job.
